Another Destin salon hair tip from Salon Salon in Destin to eliminate buildup.

If your hair is prone to buildup from conditioners, styling gel, or hair spray, mix 1 tablespoon baking soda with your regular shampoo once a week. Rinse and dry as usual.

Tips on removing Product Buildup from Hair - our Destin salon recommends the following to help you have shiny, healthy, beautiful, hair:

Destin salon tip for shiny healthy hairClarifying Shampoo

Shampoo is good for removing dirt and oil, but many shampoos are not effective at completely removing product build-up.

Use a clarifying or anti-residue shampoo at least once a month, or weekly for heavy build-up, and you'll find your favorite shampoo performing even better.

These shampoos are more acidic than others and so shouldn't be used on a continual basis, as explained by Paula Conway and Maureen Regan in their 2006 book "The Beauty Buyble."

Also keep in mind that sometimes, the more a shampoo lathers, the worse it is for your hair. This often just means it has more soap - or detergent.

You know what detergent does to your hands... what do you think it does for your hair? (In fact, this is the whole premise behind the uber-successful "Wen Hair Care" that you have likely seen in infomercials. The main concept behind Wen Hair Care is that it is free of harsh detergents.)

Apple Cider Vinegar

Using apple cider vinegar is another good way to remove product build-up, as noted by Healthy Textures. Wash your hair, condition and rinse as usual, then use 1 cup of water with 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar for a final rinse. Vinegar cleans residue from the hair, similar to the way white vinegar is effective at removing soap residue as a final laundry rinse.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is another of the best ways our Destin Salon stands behind to remove product build-up from hair. In a container, add 1 tbsp. baking soda to the amount of shampoo you would normally use, then stir with a spoon until well-mixed. An alternative method involves wetting your hair, rubbing baking soda into the wet hair, rinsing, then shampooing as usual.
